Article: “Effects of personal environmental awareness and environmental concern on employees’ voluntary pro-environmental behavior: a mediation analysis in emerging countries

The promotion of pro-environmental behaviors of employees in the workplace can contribute to reduce the environmental impact of companies and organizations, in addition to improving their environmental and economic performance. Thus, different studies have analyzed the organizational and individual factors that favor the development of voluntary pro-environmental behaviors of people in the workplace. This research focuses on the role of two individual factors, environmental awareness and concern for the environment, analyzing the mechanisms that enable both factors to contribute to the development of voluntary pro-environmental behaviors in the workplace. The results highlight the role of two mediating variables: the environmental concern of the staff and their values and attitudes towards the environment.
