Javier López Prol is Associate Professor of Economics at Yonsei University – MIRAE, in South Korea. He researches the integration of variable renewable energy sources (wind and solar) into wholesale and retail electricity markets. I’m interested in the global energy transition, climate change and environmental economics more broadly. I study these issues from an interdisciplinary and international perspective, using quantitative methods from econometrics, profitability analysis and portfolio optimization, and qualitative methods for regulatory and policy analysis. Some of my work includes the quantification of the cannibalization effect, photovoltaic self-consumption profitability and regulation, and global interconnections.
