The Professor of ECOBAS, Xavier Labandeira, will participate in the next UN report on climate change

The researcher of the REDE Group and director of Economics for Energy, Xavier Labandeira, will be one of the international experts that will participate in the next report on climate change of the UN. This report is prepared by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), an organization created in 1988 devoted to providing a scientific basis for climate change to help governments when developing policies and making decisions.

The researcher repeats the experience in this field, as he was one of the leading authors of the Fifth Assessment Report prepared by this organization and completed in April 2014. This time he will participate as reviewer editor and his collaboration will focus on the chapter dedicated to the analysis of national and sub-national climate policies, being one of those responsible for ensuring that the process is developed properly, and that the final product corresponds to existing academic knowledge.

The experience of this Professor of the University of Vigo in research on climate change is also recognized by the regional government, and yesterday he was called to a meeting with the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and with the Regional Ministry of Environment, Beatriz Mato , with the objective of evaluating the potential of Galicia to run as a national leader in terms of knowledge on this subject.
