Green ligth from USC for the recognition of ECOBAS as Interuniversity Research Center

Santiago, October 1st.  The Governing Council of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) approved this morning the recognition of ECOBAS as an Interuniversity Research Center.  The USC was the only Galician university that had not yet accredited the transformation of the Strategic Grouping into a Research Center. With this agreement, the final straight to the total recognition by the Xunta de Galicia as an Interuniversity Research Center of the Galician University System (SUG) begins. This conversion will allow ECOBAS to compete in national and international contexts with more strength.
It currently has 16 guarantors from the three Galician universities, prestigious academics with an outstanding track record in research and teaching. It is worth mentioning that the director of ECOBAS, Carlos Hervés, has just been awarded by the Royal Galician Academy of Sciences with the Domingo García-Sabell Rivas medal, which rewards the ‘Economic and Social Sciences’ section. In a short time the process will begin so that those researchers who wish to join the Center can apply for membership.
Also today the Governing Council of the University of Vigo, which was the first to approve the creation of the Center last May, gave its approval to the internal regulations of ECOBAS and the agreement for the creation of the entity that will join the three Galician universities.
