Green light for PASOS project promoted by CIM, ECOBAS and FUNDAMAR

The Xunta de Galicia had supported the Action Plan for the Promotion of Responsible Research and Innovation in the marine field through the Social Economy entities.

The PASOS project (Action Plan for the Promotion of Responsible Research and Innovation in the Marine Field through Social Economy Entities) has just been supported by the EUSUMO Network, promoted by the Department of Employment and Equality of the Xunta de Galicia for the promotion of cooperativism and social economy.  It will be carried out in coordination between FUNDAMAR and two research centers of the University of Vigo, CIM and ECOBAS, as the first joint activity in the framework of the collaboration agreement that these entities signed last year with the aim of launching joint actions to promote research, training and knowledge transfer linked to the social and marine field.  The project has a budget of more than 50,000 euros and will run from April 2021 to September 2022.
PASOS arises from the need to bring science closer to society, and aims to address the challenges of the marine community by developing a common strategic framework based on the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation (known as RRI) and the Social Economy.

The project comprises two activities: on the one hand, the development of an action plan to promote RRI in the marine field through Social Economy entities, in which a diagnosis of the situation will be made through interviews and working groups with representatives of the quadruple helix of the marine sector, and strategic axes and goals will be designed; and on the other hand, a strategy of promotion and dissemination of this RRI will be carried out, with the organization of various activities that will involve the participation of research and technical staff specialized in RRI, and with different agents in the field of the sea and the Social Economy.

The aim is to establish a dialogue between the university and society, and to promote the implementation of new projects and initiatives of common interest and based on the real needs of the marine sector.
