ECOBAS participates in a conference organized by Campus do Mar within the framework of the ‘III International Forum MSP IOC-UNESCO’

This week, the third edition of the International Forum of Maritime Spatial Planning (MSPforum) is being held in Vigo, organized by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, which brings together around 100 representatives of public authorities related to marine planning. The objective is to exchange ideas and good practices in the field of ocean conservation, and the sustainable use of resources.

Under the umbrella of this event, Campus do Mar organized a meeting this morning, with the participation of some of the experts who attend the forum, belonging to different international institutions, where they had the opportunity to know some of the work that is being done in Campus do Mar and ECOBAS, related to marine and maritime planning.

On behalf of Campus do Mar, its director, Daniel Rey, offered an overview of this organization, and Elena Ojea, principal researcher of the Future Oceans Lab group, presented the projects that are being carried out in her laboratory, among which the CLOCK project, funded with an ERC Starting Grant. On the part of ECOBAS, the researcher Raquel Fernández, from the ERENEA group, shared with the attendees some of the works that are being developed, linked to the management and planning in the marine field; and Pol Fontanet, from the 
REDE group, in charge of closing the meeting, presented the MarRisk project, funded in the last call of the Interreg POCTEP grants, in which they participate together with other Galician and Portuguese organizations, such as the Galician Ministry of Environment and Planning of the Territory, the CSIC, the Portuguese Agência del Ambiente or the University of Minho, among others.
