Article: “<\/strong><\/span>From Fossil Energy to Renewable Energy: Why is Circular Economy Needed in the Energy Transition?<\/strong>“<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

This study aims to explore the effects of energy intensity, renewable energy consumption and forestation on CO2 emissions in developed and developing countries<\/strong>. Due to the income disparity between countries, the data were classified into four distinct groups: low, lower-middle, upper-middle and high income during the period 1980-2018. The Pedroni and Fisher-Johnson estimators of pooled data are used to determine the plausible presence of a long-run cointegration relationship between the variables in the model. For the four groups of countries, the results of the Pedroni cointegration tests reveal a significant long-term association between CO2 emissions and their determinants. However, the Fisher-Johansen r estimator produces contradictory results, and the low and medium-low income country groups outperform the other two groups. However, the magnitude of this association in the long term is less important, especially in the case of renewable energy consumption and forestation. For all country groups, energy intensity turns out to be the most influential long-term determinant of CO2 emissions, with a positive coefficient ranging between 0.30 and 1.31. The consumption of renewable energy is the second most important long-term determinant of CO2 emissions. In the case of afforestation, the series has (statistically) significant long-term effects, with long-term effects only for low-middle income countries. The results support the idea of reducing the current levels of energy intensity and promoting the exploration and use of renewable energy sources as a policy tool to control the carbon-based emissions situation in our group of countries.<\/p>\n

Book Chapter: “The New Wind Energy Boom in Spain: Are Large Companies Once Again Dominating the Market?<\/span>“<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Since the wind farms derived from the installed capacity approved by the Ministry of Energy were installed in 2019, Spain is immersed in a new process of growth in the wind energy sector. In the previous wind boom, derived from the aggressive FIT system implemented by the Spanish central government, large companies dominated the market. The objective of this study is to determine, from the calculation of the concentration indexes, whether the large energy companies monopolize most of the wind energy market share<\/strong>. For this purpose, a concentration study was carried out on a population sample of 646 companies, initially considering all the companies in the sector individually and, subsequently, by groups of companies according to the business matrix. The result shows that more than 50% of the market share is in the hands of the three main energy companies operating in Spain.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Article: “<\/strong><\/span>Green rewards for optimizing employee environmental performance: examining the role of perceived organizational support for the environment and internal environmental orientation<\/span><\/strong>“<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

In recent years, research in human resource management has paid attention to the positive results in organizations and individuals derived from the implementation of green HR practices. In this research, we analyze whether the design of green reward systems influences the improvement of employees’ environmental performance. In particular, the role of the support for environmental improvement that people perceive of their organization and the environmental orientation of the company is studied<\/strong>. The results indicate that the fact of feeling supported by the organization contributes to transmit the positive effect of green rewards on environmental performance. This indirect effect is conditioned by the environmental orientation of the company.<\/span><\/p>\n

Article: “<\/strong><\/span>Social Ties, Network Socioeconomic Diversity and Sporting Event Attendance“<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

This paper analyzes the size and economic diversity of the social networks of people attending sporting events<\/strong>. From a unique data set collected by administering a questionnaire to a representative sample of the Spanish population, we obtain evidence that attendance to sporting events is associated with the creation of networks formed by people from different occupational classes. Moreover, the magnitude of these effects increases with the frequency of attendance. The results obtained suggest that attendance to sporting events is associated with the creation of individual social capital and can enhance social integration and the life opportunities of disadvantaged people.<\/span><\/p>\n
